Sharing The Planet
DISCIPLINARY THEME:

Rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution
CENTRAL IDEA:
Biodiversity relies on maintaining the interdependent balance of organisms within systems.
KEY CONCEPTS:
Causation, connection, responsibility
RELATED CONCEPTS:
Balance; Biodiversity; Interdependence
LINES OF INQUIRY:
The role of technology in scientific understanding.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
  1. Recognize the elements of major political Systems.
  2. Examine how the rights of a person in a particular society directly affect their responsibilities.
  3. Identify and describe means by which citizens can monitor and influence actions of their governments and vice versa.

STEP 1: IDENTIFYING GLOBAL SIGNIFICANT ISSUE

Q.S Al A'raf: 10

Students were identifying the problems and solutions through questioning. It helped them to find the background of the problems. The first question they tried to answer was about what climate change is.
They thought that climate change is extreme weather that happed because of the sun’s energy which trapped in the earth. In the next question they asked about the examples of climate change, the meaning of climate challenge, and the way to fight the climate change.

In the beginning of mentoring, they only know a little knowledge of climate change. They did brainstorm, deep research and discussing with mentors about their topic.

They are keeping to develop their knowledge about the topic. One of the methods that they used was using mind map. They used the mind map to figure out about climate change. (cen/feb/20)

Field trip to BMKG (Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika)
Wednesday  5th February 2020
BMKG (Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika) is the first destination of the students' fieldtrip to gather the information about climate change. The keynote speaker are Mr. Kadarsah (Head of Climate Change Analyst) and Mrs. Lidia (BMKG Staff). The students asked some questions about climate change such as the technology that can be used to anticipate climate change, the cause and effect of climate change and the solution of climate change.

Fieldtrip to Oceanography LIPI
Thursday, 20th February 2020
LIPI is the second place that the students choose to add the information about climate change. The students visited Oceanography in LIPI. They got information about the effects of climate change to undersea life. The speaker, Mr.
Dr. A'an Johan Wahyudi informed them that the temperathure of the sea has been increasing. It is caused by the Global Warming. Global Warming is the indicators of Climate Change.

STEP 4: ORGANIZING THE LEARNING
To get supporting data, the students conducted social experiment. Social experiment was chosen because it is a type of research done in fields like psychology or sociology to see how people behave in certain situations or how they respond to particular policies or programs (www.dictionary.com). Before they did the social experiment, they designed and planned it first.

Sunday, 23rd February 2020
To support their research of the project, the students made social experiment. They asked around 151 respondents in Dukuh Atas area during Car Free Day. The students gave yes or no questions about their awareness of Climate Change.
Furthermore, at that moments there are some communities such as Climate Ranger, Greenpeace, ByeBye Plastic, that were doing oration to get government's attention about the urgent of Climate Change. The students interviewed the leader of Climate Rangers to get more information. Climate Rangers and other communities welcomed the students to make collaboration in order to save the Earth from climate change.
