Introduction to the Topic

Before we go to the center of our exhibition group's investigation, we would like to tell you about what the concern of our project is. Here are some info for you:

Central Idea:
The Government System Influences the Life of the Citizen

Topic:
Maritime: Sovereignty and Illegal Fishing

Tuning In/ Finding Out

To tune into the topic, we did some researches about the definition of Illegal Fishing, the Government regulation to our maritime and fishery, kinds of Illegal Fishing, the impact of the government regulation to the fisherman and many others issues through making clipping of articles from newspaper and magazines, articles from related websites, going on excursion to Kementrian Kelautan dan Perikanan RI and interview with the fisherman in KIARA (Koalisi Rakyat untuk Keadilan Perikanan)

Here are some pictures that show the process of collecting data from our group SIF (Sovereignty and Illegal Fishing)

Fieldtrip to Kementrian Perikanan dan Kelautan

Finding Out/ Going Further

We created a questionnaire and spread out to some different community such as school, home and others and found out that some people do not understand the government regulation in our maritime and fishery. The result are represented on the pie chart below:

Based on the teleconference with the General Secretary of KIARA/ Seafish for Justice, Bapak Abdul Halim, we found out that fisherman felt dissatisfied to the regulation of our government on the fishery. On  the other perspective, based on the interview with Bapak Firman, an officer, in Maritime and Fishery Ministry, the government created the rules and regulation to protect the maritime as well as the citizen including the fisherman.
